Organic Intelligence® (OI™️) is a gentle mind-body coaching method that supports:

This method brings together complexity science, positive psychology, somatics, and spirituality to promote system growth and healing at the biological level. Sessions are conducted through a conversational method that focuses not on what is wrong but on what is right. In OI, trauma is treated as "unintegrated resource," and the coach helps invite the client's attention into the channels where healing is ready to emerge. Defying the reigning paradigm that healing and personal growth have to be hard and gritty, OI sessions are often playful, imaginative, and filled with laughter.
Sessions can be conducted in person or online.
Who can benefit from OI?

OI, Movement, and Chronic Pain
OI Coaching is a natural fit to help support anyone who is working to overcome chronic pain. The attentional work that we do in OI coaching sessions helps to prime the system for more success and greater enjoyment when we start moving. When you're primed to enjoy your movement more, it becomes easier to build strength, flexibility, and coordination, all of which can help to decrease pain.
Individual situations vary by circumstance, but for those in chronic pain, I will often recommend starting with 3-5 OI coaching sessions before progressing into movement work.
I also now use the OI framework as the underpinning of all my movement and bodywork sessions so I consider all of my work to be "OI informed."
Training
The OI Coach training is a rigorous, year-long program which includes class time, session observation, and guided practice with Steve Hoskinson, the creator of the method, in addition to consultation time with a variety of senior practitioners and personal practice. In a marketplace where coaching certifications are frequently offered with a minimum of training, the Organic Intelligence organization prides itself on offering a graduate-school level of education. One Client's Story
Susan (name has been changed to preserve anonymity) came to me with a history of childhood trauma, many mysterious pains, and a fear of movement. Despite her past, she had a desire to study movement in order to experience more expressiveness in her body and less pain. Coming to the studio took a lot of courage for her, but she stuck with it.
I helped her to follow the guidance of her body and to explore movement safely. Gradually she began to feel like she could be in touch with her body more of the time, and eventually she experienced moments of feeling like everything was ok in her body—a new experience for her!
She built strength and felt very old tension patterns begin to unwind. Along the way she discovered a sense of playfulness with movement and began to feel more comfortable softening her sense of control so she could relax and enjoy movement more easily.
The many little shifts that she had made through our work together became truly apparent when she was able to join a group yoga class—something she’d always felt too afraid to do before. From feeling like there was something deeply wrong with her and like her body wasn’t put together right, she found access to feelings of groundedness, resilience, and confidence. She still has moments when the old feelings of fear come back, but now she knows that the feeling of ok-ness will return, and she knows how to help herself re-orient toward that state.
